Research: home equity calculator tools

Goal: Assess usability of both versions of the proposed home equity calculators:

  • Assess understandability of the content on calculator pages

  • Assess discoverability and usefulness of the content on the calculator pages.

  • Identify areas of opportunity to improve the calculators.

Participants: n= 14 (7 mobile users, 7 desktop users) who saw both versions of the calculators.

Method: Qualitative, semi-structured:

  • Qualitative structured interview for 10 minutes to understand behaviors on financial websites with calculators and expectations when using financial calculators.

  • 20 minute semi-structured usability study with a clickable prototype to evaluate usability of both versions of the calculators (Home Equity Calculator/Rate & Monthly Payment calculator)
